Illustrative business analysis and financial paperwork, not the lender’s premises

Idaho Central Credit Union is one of the two lenders highlighted for Idaho in this state-by-state series. The selection is based on a defined public-data measure, not an editorial star rating: non-cancelled SBA 7(a) approvals in federal fiscal year 2025 for projects located in the state. The SBA’s June 30, 2026 snapshot records 77 qualifying approvals and $42,645,300 in gross approved principal for this lender. That is evidence of historical activity, not a current offer or a promise of approval.

Why Idaho Central Credit Union appears in this Idaho shortlist

The lender accounts for 10.4% of the 738 qualifying Idaho approvals in the same filtered dataset. It places #2 by count; ties are ordered by gross approved dollars and then reported lender name. A company can appear in several state profiles because the analysis follows the project location, not the lender’s mailing address. This is a ranking within SBA 7(a), not a ranking of all business loans, merchant cash advances, equipment leases or other funding markets.

The median recorded approval is $250,000, while the arithmetic mean is $553,835. The higher average illustrates how larger transactions can pull the mean away from the middle of the distribution. Neither figure describes the amount a new applicant qualifies for. The observed $20,000–$3,700,000 span is historical, not a published product range. An approval record is not necessarily a disbursement, and multiple records can relate to the same business.

The businesses represented in the records

  • Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors: 4 recorded approvals in this lender/state sample.
  • Ambulance Services: 3 recorded approvals in this lender/state sample.
  • Supermarkets and Other Grocery Retailers (except Convenience Retailers): 3 recorded approvals in this lender/state sample.

The largest recorded county or county-equivalent concentrations in this sample include Ada (35 approvals) and Kootenai (11 approvals). These figures describe where past projects were recorded; they do not define a service boundary. Industry labels are reported classifications, not a statement of specialization or an eligibility list. Ties within the displayed industry and county counts are listed alphabetically.

A practical borrowing lens for Idaho

An Idaho business considering credit-union financing should clarify membership and business eligibility before commissioning valuations. For specialized equipment, document the vendor quote, installation budget and resale assumptions independently.

Turn the project schedule into a cash schedule

For a contractor, present signed backlog, deposits, progress billings, retainage and costs to finish each job. Separate disputes from ordinary receivables. A profitable contract can still require financing when materials and subcontractors are paid before the customer. Explain what happens if inspection or payment slips a month, and avoid funding permanent losses with repeated short-term borrowing.

For the need described above, compare business lines of credit with an SBA loan rather than assuming one structure is automatically better. The relevant comparison is the use of proceeds, repayment schedule, collateral and the cash remaining after closing. Availability of a particular product from Idaho Central Credit Union must be confirmed directly; the public dataset is not a current product catalog.

What an SBA discussion should establish

The SBA’s 7(a) program overview explains eligible uses including working capital, equipment, qualifying real estate, certain refinancing and changes of ownership. Program eligibility and lender underwriting are separate hurdles. Applicants must meet the applicable rules and demonstrate repayment ability; a government guarantee protects the lender according to program terms and does not cancel the borrower’s repayment obligation. Passive investment property and other ineligible uses require different consideration.

  • Ask Idaho Central Credit Union whether it currently accepts your project type, location, requested amount and industry; historical volume does not establish today’s policy.
  • Provide a uses-of-funds schedule, ownership information, current financial statements, tax returns, existing debt schedule and a realistic cash forecast. The lender determines the final document list.
  • Request a written breakdown of interest basis, fees, collateral, guarantees, net proceeds, payment frequency and any prepayment provisions. A factor rate is not the same thing as APR.
  • For an acquisition or property transaction, clarify valuation, equity contribution, lease or occupancy requirements and closing contingencies before committing non-refundable costs.

Compare another leading lender in Idaho

Zions Bank is the other lender in this state’s two-profile shortlist, with 166 qualifying approvals and a median recorded amount of $82,950. Read the separate Zions Bank Idaho funding profile. The difference between the two historical samples does not establish which lender will offer you the lowest cost or the most suitable terms. Source, selection method and limitations

Source: SBA 7(a) and 504 FOIA data, specifically the 7(a) FY2020–present CSV, as of June 30, 2026 (large download). We filtered ApprovalFY to 2025, ProjectState to ID, and excluded records with LoanStatus CANCLD. We grouped by BankFDICNumber when present, otherwise BankNCUANumber, otherwise reported bank name plus bank state. Institutions with the same name but different identifiers are not combined. We ranked by record count descending, then GrossApproval sum descending, then lender name. Dollar figures use GrossApproval, not SBAGuaranteedApproval. Each record is counted once; this is not a count of unique borrowers.

This complete-year comparison uses FY2025 because FY2026 is incomplete in this snapshot. Later cancellations, corrections, mergers or name changes can alter results. The file does not provide all applications or rejections, so it cannot establish approval rates, customer satisfaction, speed, current pricing or credit standards. “Leading” and “top” refer only to the stated activity measure.
